ACTIVITIES PROGRAM IN THE SAN JOSÉ COMMUNITY CENTER FOR CHILD DEVELOPMENT
The Community of Saint Paul in Mexico is responsible for the San José Community Center for Child Development located in Jardines de San Juan Ajusco in the Santo Tomás Apóstol Parish district. In this Center the following programs and activities are developed:

PRESCHOOL EDUCATION FOR AND MATERNAL CAREof children between 1 and 6 years old. The center admits 110 children who attend daily from 9am to 3pm.

CHILD HEALTH. The children receive two meals a day in order to avoid and alleviate malnutrition. Additionally, a pediatrician periodically carries out medical exams.

EDUCATION OF PARENTS. Educational talks on topics of family interest are given to help improve their quality of life.

TRAINING FOR WOMEN. Activities for the women in the neighborhood are carried out from the San José center with the goal of bettering their economic situation, their self-esteem, and their family situation. Specifically, 20 women participate in workshops on generating income through the preparation and sale of jams and chocolates. Also, a total of 15 women receive psychological support and in some cases psychiatric treatment in order to overcome personal and family challenges.

RETRAINING COURSES. Educators in the San José Center attend training courses on pedagogy in order to improve their performance in their educational responsibilities.

SPACE AMONG YOUTH
Social awareness is fostered among different groups of young people in the city, as they are encouraged to collaborate with the diverse activities that are carried out in the San José Community Center for Child Development in Ajusco. It is a way for them to slowly commit themselves to the development of a more just world.
